There was an internal kerfuffle inside of Babe when Goran stood up to pull out her seat. She sat down and he put his hand on her shoulder. Her bare shoulder because there was not much of a strap.
“Thank you,” she said.
Babe did not even look at Astrid.
Goran and Babe, well they were meeting for the first time, but there was a gentle rapport between them and she thought he was handsome from his company photo. For online meetings he used that photo — no one ever saw him live.
Well Babe had not and was not sure she was going to recover now that she had.
Dinner went fine — her heart racing the entire time — but that did not stop her from getting a glass of wine at the bar. Goran stood in front of her.
“You’re pretty stunning in person,” he said.
Babe was stunned, chewed on the edge of her wine glass.
“You think so?” she said, as he looked at her lip print on her wine glass.
“I think Babe you know so, I told Astrid I had to meet you.”
“I would not have come out if she had not mentioned you.”
“Really?”
She nodded.
“I have a once in a lifetime opportunity for you.”
Babe held her breath.
